WELCOME TO ALIA!

‍Alia is a multipurpose online platform owned and operated by NDWA Labs LLC, a limited liability company incorporated in the State of Delaware, in partnership with the National Domestic Workers Alliance (“NDWA”), a 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the State of New York to advance the rights of domestic workers, and maintains the technology associated with Alia and its website, myalia.org (collectively referred to as “Alia” or “we” or “us”). Welcome to Alia!

Alia currently has three primary functions:

  • A pilot benefits program that enables active independent cleaning services professionals (“Worker” or “you”) to receive access to certain work-related benefits funded by Handy Technologies, Inc. (“Handy”) when you use Handy’s technology platform to find, claim, and perform cleaning jobs for customers.
  • A benefits program that enables independent house cleaners and other domestic workers  (“Workers” or “you”) to receive access to work-related benefits from their customers (“Clients”) that are typically unaffordable especially for independent contractors.
  • A platform to administer emergency assistance funds on behalf of NDWA’s Coronavirus Care Fund.


ALIA: THE HANDY PILOT BENEFITS PROGRAM

Description

Alia, in partnership with Handy Technologies, Inc. (“Handy”), has created a pilot benefits program (“Program”) that enables active independent cleaning services professionals  (“Workers” or “you”) to receive access to certain work-related benefits funded by Handy when you find, claim, and perform jobs through Handy’s technology marketplace. Under the Program, Handy contributes funds to cover the costs of paid time off, occupational accident insurance and or/other benefits available to you (“Benefits”).  The Benefits are described in further detail in the Handy Pilot Benefits Program Terms of Use. This privacy policy is part of the Handy Pilot Benefits Program Terms of Use.  When you use Alia as part of the Program, the provisions of this Section I govern such use and supersede any contrary provision in any other Section of this privacy policy, regardless of whether you also use Alia for other purposes.

This Privacy Policy applies to the handy.myalia.org website, including all of its pages and subpages, and other online or mobile services that connect to this Privacy Policy.  It does not apply to any other website or entity that we may link to.  By using Alia, you accept the ways in which we collect and use your information as described in this policy. If you do not agree with all or any part of this policy, please delete all cookies from your browser cache after visiting Alia, and do not visit or use Alia. Your continued use of and communications with Alia means you agree to the terms of the Privacy Policy.

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of the Privacy Policy and, in some cases, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to our homepage or sending you a notification).

Information We Collect While You Use the Alia Website
To provide you with the best possible experience, we collect certain information while you visit Alia, such as the pages you visit, whether you access Alia from a mobile device or a computer, the web browser you use, your IP address, and how you found Alia.

‍Information We Collect In Connection With The Handy Benefits Pilot Program (“Program”)
As part of the Program, Handy will provide us with the following information of all Workers participating in the Program: First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, Email, Street Address, Town/City, State, Zip, Work Type, Date Handy account created, number of hours worked each week (“Worker Data”). 

How We Share Your Information
We will never share, sell, disclose or reveal the information you provide to us or that we collect from Handy regarding you with anyone, except in the following circumstances:

  • We may share your Worker Data with third-party insurance carriers, prepaid card vendors, and other vendors necessary to make the Benefits available to you.
  • We will regularly make available all stored Worker Data to Handy operations and information security personnel. 
  • We may share information you provide to us outside of the Program with Handy, as well as third parties who provide services on our behalf or help you use the Alia platform. All our third-party service providers are required to take appropriate security measures to protect your data in line with our policies. We permit them to process your data only for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.
  • We care very much about your privacy, but if our lawyers tell us we have to disclose your information to comply with the law, to satisfy a valid search warrant or a subpoena, or to protect the safety and security of the Alia web site and its users, employees, and service providers, we will do our best to let you know by email beforehand (unless our lawyers tell us we aren't allowed to tell you).


Cookies
We may use computer “cookies” to determine whether you have visited Alia before and to customize your experience, but we do not allow any third-party advertising cookies on our site. If you do not know what a “cookie” is or what it is used for, go here.

Your California Privacy Rights
California law provides California residents with the right to request certain information regarding our disclosure of your personally identifiable information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. You also have the right to opt-out of having this information shared with third parties for their direct marketing purposes.  Such requests must be submitted to us in writing at the following email address: support@myalia.org

Termination of the Program
If the Program is terminated, we will have 60  business days to delete all copies of all Worker Data that we have in our possession as a result of the Program from any database or system in which it is stored. However, if you (i) receive benefits through Alia from a non-Handy client or (ii) have enrolled in an insurance coverage through Alia for which you have an option to continue at your own expense after the conclusion of the Program, Alia need not delete the following Worker Data: First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, Email, Street Address, Town/City, State, Zip.

Changes to this Policy
As Alia grows and we build new features to make it even more useful to you, we will make important changes to this policy. But before we do, we will let you know by posting an announcement on the site or sending you an email. And as always, if you keep using Alia after we change this policy, that means that you accept the new policy. If you have any questions, please email support@myalia.org.

ALIA: THE DOMESTIC WORKERS BENEFITS PROGRAM & THE PLATFORM FOR ADMINISTERING NDWA’S CORONAVIRUS CARE FUND

Information We Collect While You Use the Alia Website

Information We Collect For Alia Benefits Program
Alia administers a benefits program that enables independent housekeepers and other domestic workers (“Workers”) to receive access to work-related benefits from their customers (“Clients”) that are typically unaffordable especially for independent contractors.  Alia benefits come in the form of Alia Benefits Credits (“Credits”) for providing services to Clients. Clients award Workers  with Credits by purchasing them in the name of individual Cleaners. Cleaners can use Credits to purchase certain products and services from the Alia store (“Store”). This privacy policy applies to both Workers  and Clients, and is part of our Terms of Use.

As a Worker signing up for an Alia account, you will provide us with the following information:

  • First and Last Name
  • Email Address
  • Mobile Phone Number
  • Mailing Address


As a Client, in order to award Credits to a particular Worker, you will provide us with the following information:

  • Monthly Credit Purchase Amount
  • Worker's First and Last Name
  • Worker's Mobile Phone Number
  • Worker's Preferred Language


When you sign up to make monthly Credit contributions, you will also need to provide the following financial information to our payment processor, Stripe. Stripe's privacy policy is here.

  • First and Last Name
  • Credit Card Number
  • Credit Card Expiration Date
  • Credit Card Security Code (CVV)
  • Billing Address
  • Payment Amount


We never collect, store, or share your financial information. Stripe uses your financial information to create a secure token so that we can identify your payment, but we never see any of your financial information, and cannot provide it to others. 

By providing your mobile phone number, you agree to receive periodic messages and calls from Alia and its partners by recorded and/or autodialed calls and autodialed text messages. Carrier data and message rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by texting STOP to 866-246-2707.

Information We Collect for NDWA’s Coronavirus Care Fund Application
As a Worker applying for the National Domestic Workers Alliance’s Coronavirus Care Fund Application, housed on Alia, the Worker will provide us with the following information:

  • First and Last Name
  • Email Address
  • Mobile Phone Number
  • Mailing Address
  • Name and Phone Number for Domestic Work Verifier (“Verifier”)
  • Demographic Information


As a Verifier for a Worker’s Coronavirus Care Fund Application, the Verifier will provide us with the following information:

  • First and Last Name
  • Mobile Phone Number
  • Email Address


How We Share Your Information

We will never share, sell, disclose or reveal the information you provide to us or that we collect from you with anyone, except in the following circumstances:

  • If you are a Client using the Alia Benefits Program: we may share your full name and mobile phone number or email with your Worker r to ensure that you are awarding Credits to the correct Cleaner. We may share the amount of Credits you award(ed) your Worker  each month and a history of the Credit purchases you made on your Worker's behalf.
  • If you are a Worker using the Alia Benefits Program: we may share your full name and mobile phone number with your Client to ensure that you are receiving Credits from the correct Client.


For Everyone, including Workers and Verifiers for NDWA’s Coronavirus Care Fund Application: We may share your data with third parties who provide services on our behalf, help you use the Alia platform, and/or inform you of opportunities to advance the general welfare of domestic workers, including from the National Domestic Workers Alliance and Care in Action. All our third-party service providers are required to take appropriate security measures to protect your data in line with our policies..
